In five seconds I went from disgust to delight.

Hello hello Reader

The other day I was getting ready for Taekwondo training when a ladybug flew out of my neatly folded uniform. I had no idea what it was at first but my mind doing its mind-things, jumped to conclusions. Deciding in an instant that it had to be something bad, I actually caught myself feeling disgusted and mildly scared at what it might be. In the five seconds it took me to figure out what it was, I had gone from fearful surprise, to something close to disgust, to pure delight.

It was in that moment that I realized, on yet another level of understanding, how much my Yoga practice applies to everything in life. I wrote about it on the blog this week. Go have a read — you might just recognize yourself in it.

Early bird deadline is May 31st.

If you've been sitting on the fence about joining us in August, this is your nudge. The Tending Your Fire Retreat takes place August 7th to 9th at La Solitude in New Brunswick. It's a Pitta-focused weekend built around agni — your inner fire and drive — and the art of tending it wisely through the heat of summer and beyond.

Early bird pricing of $499 + tax ends May 31st!

And one more thing before you go...

I've started writing on Substack!

If you've been here for a while, you know I teach from lived experience. The Yoga, the Ayurveda, the daily practices, all of it comes from my own life first. Substack is where I'm going to write a little more freely about that. The real stuff of being a middle-aged woman, and mom, and entrepreneur and maybe a little bit how I've become such a bird-nerd these last few years🦉. You know, the kind of things that don't always fit neatly into a class description, a blog or social post. I've always wanted to write more and this feels like the right place to do that.

It's free and it's just me sharing more on how my yoga helps me show up in everyday life. You can find me at AUM@home on Substack.

That's everything for now. Classes are flowing, the Community is alive, and May is turning out to be one of my favourite months to teach so far.

Hey Reader, School's out for summer and I don't know about you, but as much as I love my family, already I can feel myself craving the solitude and structure of my normal routine. The one that gives me space to plan, to practice, to think, and to put pen to paper in the quiet pockets of the day. But... that will have to wait until September. For now, all I can do is try my best to go with the flow. And here's my plan for that: RISE and PRACTICE with me! PJ Yoga all summer long! Three mornings...

Yoga, in your PJs

I don't know about you but it has been a week. Honestly, it was one of those weeks where the practice had to come off the mat more than once just to keep me sane. If you caught my reel earlier this week, you know what I mean. Five minutes away from my laptop and onto my mat, a few stretches, one very well-timed dog visit, and I was a completely different person. That IS the practice. Not the perfect hour. Just five minutes when you need it most. In the live-classes this week, we moved through...

The view at La Solitude in NB

Good morning Reader , I was on my mat every day this week, both for my own practice and my teaching one. But the moments that really stuck with me most weren't the experiences on the mat. They were in my foggy midday walk along a rocky shoreline, where the only thought I had was: one step, then the next, in the direction I want to go. They were the sidelines of my son's soccer practice, where mindfulness looked like nothing more than noticing how I was standing there are the observer. They...
