Hi Reader Quick January check-in...how's the month going for you so far? I'm honestly asking because January can feel a little all over the place for me. Days feel slow yet this month seems to be flying by. And the darkness! Ugh, that's a tough one for me. Even though we're gaining light every single day, it's still after 7am before the sun starts to appear, and I'm finding myself turning on extra lamps and lighting more candles to combat the early evening darkness. To help with all of that, this month I'm leaning into my practice quite heavily and have been really trying to get clear on what’s realistic for me right now and getting honest about how I want to share my practice(s) and, of course, teach. Now, I know there can be a lot of resistance to practicing at home or online. And I want to be really clear: I’m not trying to replace in-person classes, studios, or the sense of community when being in a room together. There’s something really special about that, and I love it too. But what I am trying to support is the space in between. The days when getting to class feels impossible (hello snow storms...). The evenings when driving across town feels like a chore. The moments when you’d still love to practice, but don’t want to change clothes, rush out the door, or commit to a full production. Practicing at home can be a little like cooking versus going out for a meal. Going out is fun. You don’t have to prep or clean up. But having something simple at home makes it easier to stay nourished on a regular basis. That’s what practicing with me online can be. Not better than in-person. Just supportive in a different way. And that’s exactly what I’ll be talking about in next week’s Mat Chat session, a free 'MasterClass' where I'll share a bit about the how an at home practice can look, feel and be of benefit. And for those of you craving an in-person experience this month, I am hosting one ☺️ No matter how or where you’re practicing right now, I hope you know it all counts. Consistency doesn’t have to look perfect for it to be meaningful. Practice is about meeting yourself where you are, and if that includes having me around, I'd be honoured. Big hugs, Michelle |

Hello hello Reader , Happy first day of spring! I enjoy winter, I really do. But this morning, as I stepped outside for my walk, a red-breasted robin was singing high up in the tree, and I have to say, I felt genuinely grateful for the signs of a new season. Spring doesn't always look the way we expect it to, and there is actually snow in the forecast here today, which made me laugh. Also, on my walks this week, I've noticed how the tree tips are starting to look fuzzy and new growth is...
Hello hello Reader , I want to share something a little personal with you today. I know what it's like to cough, sneeze, laugh too hard, or chase the dog around the yard and feel that quiet embarrassment that so many of us carry around without ever saying out loud. Incontinence is one of those things women often live with in silence, assuming it's just part of the deal after having babies, or getting older, or simply being a woman with a busy body and a full life. It doesn't have to be. What...
Good day, good day Reader , This time last week I was completely knocked down by a nasty flu. Fever, chills, headache… it was one of those bugs where you go to bed feeling fine and then somewhere in the middle of the night you wake up and know you're in for it. For three full days it was couch to bed, bed to couch, sipping water and broth, allowing my body the time it needed to rest and recover. It wasn’t how I would have planned to spend the week, but sometimes the body makes decisions that...
