Earlier this week, I completely fell apart

Earlier this week I sat at the kitchen table with my head in my hands, and ugly-cried over work stress.

A few minutes into me losing my sh!t, my twelve-year-old walked into the kitchen, put his hand on my back and started to consciously take deep breaths. He didn't say a word. He just stood there, beside me, breathing. Eventually I followed along and took a few deep breaths too. And, as you might guess, I calmed down.

I've been teaching mindfulness and movement since the '90s. And there I was, the 'yogi' mom who is supposed to have it all together, falling apart while my twelve-year-old modelled what I couldn't remember to practice.

If you've practiced with me before, you've likely heard me say how yoga is so much more than postures on a 2' x 6' piece of rubber. He couldn't have demonstrated the practice any better.

Which feels fitting, because the theme I landed on for September in the Community is (re)connecting to the practices that help you feel your best. And even though I might stand at the front of the room to teach, I don't arrive with it all figured out. Instead, I'm continuously reminding myself to practice the things that reconnect me to my peace, my patience, and my health.

The Inward Journey

The Inward Journey begins September 23rd.

Twelve weeks of slowing down and going deeper, learning to read what your body and mind actually need, and how to practice in a way that truly supports you.

I've decided to hold the early bird price of $997+tax right up to the start date. This is a one-time thing. Next year it moves to the full price, so this is the lowest it will ever be.

Hi Reader, If you've been flowing along lately, you'll know that I've been writing a weekly article on Substack where I share something about my practice and how it has anchored and supported me through life's ups and downs. And even though I had every intention of writing one this week, it didn't happen. Old Michelle would be stressing to the max, frantically trying to get a piece together and uploaded. I would have lost sleep over it and likely would have erupted under the pressure of...

The Inward Journey - a yoga immersion

Hi Reader If I’ve gleaned anything over the years of practicing Yoga, it’s that every time I get on my mat, I need something different. Some days, my body needs to move or build strength. Some days, I need to slow down, breathe, and settle my mind. And some days, I need to support an injury, low energy, stress, digestive discomfort, or whatever else life has 'happened' in my body, mind and heart. My practice changes because I change. And yours should, too. It's a bold statement, I know. But...

A rainbow at Sambro Lighthouse in Nova Scotia

Reader I have to tell you about my week. Last weekend, I was leading the Tending Your Fire retreat at La Solitude in the beautiful, peaceful New Brunswick forest. And ever since, I feel like the Universe has been showing me all the ways that power can be harnessed and expressed. Or maybe it's that the retreat material has been landing for me on a much deeper level than I knew possible. I feel like I've had a plethora of aha moments ever since I departed. It's funny how that happens. I've...
