Creating Space

Good morning Reader ,

Lately, all I crave is space. Space to breathe. Space to stretch. Space to shut off the noise for a few minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I love my family deeply. Yet I also need moments where I don’t have to do anything for anyone else. Where I can just be myself, without tending or managing or holding everything together.

What I keep coming back to is this: taking care of ourselves doesn’t have to be a whole production.

Sometimes it’s two minutes of breathing while you’re still on the couch. Sometimes it’s reading a few words that help you exhale. Sometimes it’s fifteen quiet minutes, or an hour on the mat, when that’s possible.

What matters is that you have options. And that those options feel easy to reach, especially on the days you’re already tired.

That’s the kind of space I’m holding inside AUM@home. Over the past couple of weeks, it’s looked like gentle movement, quiet reflection, and a lot of permission to do less.

If you ever want to step into that space, even briefly, the door is always open.

Wishing you a warm and spacious Monday,
Michelle 🤍

A daffodils in spring snow

Hello hello Reader , Happy first day of spring! I enjoy winter, I really do. But this morning, as I stepped outside for my walk, a red-breasted robin was singing high up in the tree, and I have to say, I felt genuinely grateful for the signs of a new season. Spring doesn't always look the way we expect it to, and there is actually snow in the forecast here today, which made me laugh. Also, on my walks this week, I've noticed how the tree tips are starting to look fuzzy and new growth is...

Hello hello Reader , I want to share something a little personal with you today. I know what it's like to cough, sneeze, laugh too hard, or chase the dog around the yard and feel that quiet embarrassment that so many of us carry around without ever saying out loud. Incontinence is one of those things women often live with in silence, assuming it's just part of the deal after having babies, or getting older, or simply being a woman with a busy body and a full life. It doesn't have to be. What...

Good day, good day Reader , This time last week I was completely knocked down by a nasty flu. Fever, chills, headache… it was one of those bugs where you go to bed feeling fine and then somewhere in the middle of the night you wake up and know you're in for it. For three full days it was couch to bed, bed to couch, sipping water and broth, allowing my body the time it needed to rest and recover. It wasn’t how I would have planned to spend the week, but sometimes the body makes decisions that...
